Alexandra Grant is a Con Artist, Reason #6

The GossipCop article by Brianna Morton asking if Alexandra Grant is a con artist has been deleted from their website but it is a question worthy of contemplation. I have already written 5 reasons explaining why she is a con artist. I'm continuing with reason # 6 and it has to do the “love house”. This house was part of the Watts House Project, a non-profit that raised about $700,000 from donors including the L.A. County Museum of Art, the Andy Warhol Foundation and ArtPlace, a consortium spearheaded (but not funded) by the NEA between 2008 and 2012.

The project was a failure and the L.A. Times wrote an article called “Watts House Project under fire” on April 8, 2012.

Alexandra Grant left the board in 2011 but on her 2019 resume, she still lists herself as a board.

For me, the CON in regard to this house is the amount of money that seems to be missing and yet, Alexandra Grant is using this project as a talking point for her philanthropy and social conscience in trying to better the lives of poor people, in particular the Johnson, a black family in Watts.

This project starts in 2008 and remained unfinished in 2020, yet Grant describes the project as a “living artwork”. For most of us, this is a project of delusion and self-promotion as Grant wanted to put her love logo on the roof, a monstrosity that does nothing in term of art or improving the lives of a poor family in Watts. I see it as a branding tool to promote her logo as she is selling it on different merchandises.

I have asked this questions many times but let me ask it again: Where is the $60,000 that Alexandra Grant claimed she has raised for the “love house?” Why is GrantLove and Fulcrum Arts still soliciting donations when Grant has supposedly already raised $60,000 and received $25,000 grants for it and there was also $700,000 raised by the Watts House Project which would have been divided for this house too.
