Alexandra Grant is a Con Artist, Reason #8

Reason # 8 for Alexandra Grant being a con artist is the way she plagiarized Bruce Conner. I understand the rule of plagiarism and inspiration might be murky in the art world but what is clear is that Grant plagiarized Conner and then pretended she has never heard of him.

The photos of Shadows is a duplicate of Conner's work. While Grant was attending California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco, Conner's works were exhibited there.

She also copied his inkblot. The similarity is uncanny but hers is a poor imitation while he produced intricate drawings that range from psychedelic patterns to repetitious inkblot compositions.

Instead of being honest that she was inspired by Bruce Conner, Grant claimed to be inspired by a quote from Malcolm Lowry's 1947 novel "Under the Volcano": "I have no house only a shadow. But whenever you are in need of a shadow, my shadow is yours." Certainly, this story can make her seemed deep and well-read but in truth, I am going to say it was Bruce Conner that "inspired" the idea behind taking photos of shadows and in truth, he is the inspiration of much of her works, including the usage of the word “love.”

But she could not be truthful and said she was inspired by him because then people can see right away that she is merely a poor imitation of a great artist who has done it all.

Her “arts” are stagnant and repetitious like something produced from a copy machine and she herself has gotten them mixed up and gave the same name to different carbon copy pieces and also give multiple names to the same piece.

She wants to be known as an artist but the most prominent feature of Alexandra Grant is the act of conning.

Special thanks to my friend @robinwood_thereturn for the research and discovery.
