Changing the Year of Your Arts

Someone in the art world send me a DM to answer the question regarding Alexandra Grant who keeps changing the year of her finished "art" to make it seems new, like an art from 2018 was changed to 2020 and her quilt from 2016 that wasn't sold, she also changed the year to 2020 in the Bemis auction. Here's the explanation:

I just want to answer the question about if artists replica artwork and re-date them. Yes, of course, artists push themselves a great deal on a concept, color, etc, so they'll redo and redo until they can move on or don't. There's usually a variation between them though. Check out Monet, Rothko, Pollock

With regards to dates, what she's doing is weird. An artist may work on a piece, let's say, the year 1998, and then they leave it for years. We'll say they revisit and finish the piece the year 2014. The piece should be dated 1998, 2014.
