A review of Taking Lena Home by Marared

I watched Alexandra Grant's documentary taking Lena Home. The is a story about a baby named Lena Davis stolen tombstone over six decades ago, and in the end the tombstone went back to Lena’s grave. This documentary bothered me because the purchase of the stolen tombstone was about profit. Alexandra Grant stated she purchased the tombstone as an artifact when clearly it was purchased for profit. A few years later, she stenciled the tombstone so she could make t-shirts, again to sell for profit. She had the tombstone for over 11 years when she decided to place it on eBay, again to sell it for profit. Alexandra Grant claims this is when she was informed by Chief Bob from Nebraska, that she had stolen property, so she jumped into her car to return the tombstone. Not quite true because this is when she came up with the idea that she wanted to take Lena's tombstone home to Nebraska and film it for profit. My problem with this documentary is that no normal thinking person would purchase a tombstone, and try to make a profit off of it. Even if you purchased it with the intent to return it, you would contact the police, museums, historical society, or research ancestry to find the owner. For me, the documentary has an uncaring feeling to it, because it is all about money and the afterthought is the baby's story. I wonder if anyone else found the tombstone story disgusting and unsavory or has society changed so much that anything goes today.
