"One thing I’m still not sure of is whether to judge this woman for her
laziness (among other things), or admire her “work smart, not hard”
schtick...
Everything she does is repetitive, empty and inauthentic. It reflects her utter lack of depth and heart. Which is goddamn ironic given that she peddles the LOVE message left and right.
The most objectionable aspect might be Grant’s preying on people’s kindness and sincere want to do good/contribute, only to line her own pockets/raise her own profile. Gives no transparency, it’s all shady shady shady. She is committed to her grift like the pro she is.
Alexandra Grant’s attempts to come across as “relatable” by drawing parallels between her own experiences growing up in Mexico or France and those of truly marginalized groups is pretty gross. She was a white girl living in fucking Paris, she doesn’t get to speak about being regarded as “the outsider” and define that experience. She doesn’t get to use it as some sort of standard by which exclusion is measured. It’s patronizing and insulting.
Doors have always been open to her, so she should sit down and shut up about the challenges of being a woman in the world of art. An honest point to raise would be the challenges of being a woman with ZERO talent and wanting to make it big in the arts. But that sort of stuff doesn’t come out of her mouth. Would be too close to the truth.
All of this goes beyond simply being a con artist. She exploits and commodifies other people’s struggle to enhance her own image under the guise of charity that isn’t even really charity. Unless Alexandra Grant’s personal bank account is the real charity. "
