Grant lies on her resume about her art being at the Art Gallery of Ontario and in interviews about helping to Found the Women's Center for Creative Work. She stole credit from Janey Bergam about why Ode to Happiness was published. She is a self-proclaimed philanthropist but the money collected for the Watts House seem to be “missing in actions”. Let's not pretend that Grant isn't getting preferential treatment because of her connection to Keanu Reeves or article like the one in OK! Magazine called “Keanu Reeves, Finally Engaged” and you guess it, engaged to Alexandra Grant. It doesn't matter that Reeves' publicist has made a statement “This was completely fabricated for your own financial gain.” It should be noted that the articles are always hot off the press to coincide with her upcoming event or business venture, her jewelry line and publishing house for example.
Grant is the artist that gets the most attention on Marfainvitational because of the tabloid articles connecting her to Keanu Reeves like the British Vogue article called Alexandra Grant On Finding Love With Keanu Reeves & Her Upcoming Marfa Invitational Exhibition. I predict she will be the recipient of their Artist-in-Residence Award.
There are artists whose work are superior but they do not have connection to Reeves and do NOT lie on their resume, or have hundred of PAID-for articles in the tabloids so no one will ever know about them. I am speaking out on their behalf.
I don't think someone who lied on her resume and in interviews, using gossip media to be relevant should ever be invited as a visiting artist for any reputable center. Visiting artists and guest speakers should be people who are admirable, not someone who lies, cheats and steals other people's credit.
